Four angry residents in Buderim on the Sunshine Coast have successfully halted the construction of a $25 million mansion. The neighbours have put $60,000 together to fight the court battle on the basis that it allegedly breached by-laws and affected their views. The designer of the home, Kate Dillon, isn’t happy about it:
“It’s quite sad that people can do this. Everything has been built to the Building Code and it’s probably tripled the value of their (neighbours’) houses, but they’ve decided they don’t want it built in their street. They want it pulled down. They’ve got more money than sense.”
The workers have been told to go home until a final decision is made.
