Steve Rubel has posted a terrific little article at the “We influence” blog. It’s about marketing, and I reckon it applies really well to real estate agents and how they should market themselves. So, with a couple of changes, here’s Steve’s take on real estate agent marketing (the bold bits are the changed bits):
So what real estate agents need to do is empower. They need to help their best vendors literally achieve their dreams and then shower them with so much genuine love, that they go out and spread the gospel to others. Marketing is no longer like carpet bombing, but more like gardening. Grow a tree and hopefully it will plant seeds and become a forest.

It’s not rocket science. Treat your clients well … be honest with them … and send them out to spread the word. That’s the kind of marketing that really works. Your magnetic calendars, decorated cars, and massive billboards are all fine, but nothing works quite as well as a customer evangelist.
